China is interested in innovations
Yuriy Gurdin and Andrey Antonov, deputy governors of Tomsk Oblast, have discussed the opportunities for joint Russian-Chinese projects at the meeting with the delegation of Shijiazhuang City (capital of Hebei Province). Vice-governors have presented current ties between Tomsk Oblast and China to the guests, as well as having outlined the most promising areas for future cooperation. Yuriy Gurdin, deputy governor for investment policy and property relations, says: “There are about 40 Russian-Chinese enterprises of timber processing in Oblast, including Asino Forest Park, the largest in Russia. Nevertheless, there is no joint project in high-tech industries, although prerequisites for this exist”. Chinese side has expressed interest in the promotion of Tomsk innovative technologies to Chinese market, primarily to Hebei province, where innovative work is one of key directions. Andrey Antonov, deputy governor of Tomsk Oblast, marks: "From the point of view of innovative development, Tomsk is really unique: we have a lot of universities, capable of solving interdisciplinary tasks, and it is very important now".
Within the framework of delegation's visit, Open High-tech Zone of Shijiazhuang City and two Tomsk Universities - TSU and TPU signed cooperation agreements.
Zhao Wenfeng, deputy mayor of Shijiazhuang city, marks: "Before the negotiations with Tomsk universities, we have thoroughly studied their rich potential. - There are more than 10 thousand enterprises in our city, ready to switch to scientific production. In order to ensure their development, we are creating innovative and technological requests. As a result of visit to Tomsk Oblast, a working group will be specially created to interact with the region.
