Tomsk business expands its presence on foreign markets
April and May turned to be active months for small and medium export-oriented businesses of Tomsk Oblast
Business missions to Vietnam and Uzbekistan, presentations in Kyrgyzstan and preparations for a big forum of the EEU countries in Armenia compose a part of joint work of business, regional authorities and the infrastructure of exporters support to promote Tomsk products in the foreign markets. The choice of directions of expansion is not accidental, because these countries are defined by the leadership of the country as priority directions for the expansion of international cooperation of Russian business.
Aspects of work on Asian markets implies repeated communication with potential partners. Only after that foreign businessmen are ready for a dialogue concerning business.
That’s why in the framework of the activities of Regional Export Support Center Tomsk business delegations once again visit Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other dynamically developing Asian countries which have actively cooperated with Tomsk enterprises previously.
In these markets, Tomsk businessmen have to compete with Chinese, Korean, Japanese, European and local producers.
Business missions are one of the most effective ways of finding new partners, which are actively supported by Tomsk Oblast Administration and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
18 Tomsk small and medium-sized enterprises have become participants in presentations and b2b meetings in Vietnam and Uzbekistan, including representatives of oilfield service companies like “Siam”, “Oiltim”, “Gazinfoplast” IC, “Sibir”, instrumental and water treatment companies such as “Vatercom”, “Ambit”, “Instrument plus”, IT companies “TomskASUproject”, “ASU-Expert”, medical companies and others.
During business mission to Vietnam, Tomsk delegates presented their products and services in regional administration of Baria-Vung Tau oil province, the office of the national Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau, the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh City, leading oil companies of Vietnam such as PetroVietnam, VietSovPetro, subsidiaries of Rosneft, Gazprom, as well as local oilfield services companies, etc.

«Tomsk technologies and developments caused interest in the south of Vietnam. Our region is known in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, Vung Tau and Danang. Vietnam highly estimates the interest of Tomsk business, authorities and Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. As a result of business missions, Tomsk equipment, IT products and professional services appeared on Vietnamese market. The volumes of Tomsk export to this country are growing. Moreover, there is a great potential for the development. Vietnamese side has expressed its intention to visit Tomsk in the 4th quarter of 2018 to expand bilateral cooperation and to know more about Tomsk enterprises».
Business mission of Tomsk enterprises to Uzbekistan has successfully passed. The representatives of Tomsk delegation held a presentation and exchange of contacts at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited main oil and gas exhibition of the country "Oil & Gas Uzbekistan 2018", Power Uzbekistan exhibition, and held negotiations at Tashkent enterprises.
Zhamshed Urakov, deputy chairman of Uzbekistan CCI noted significant potential of business cooperation between Tomsk and local enterprises, as well as the dynamic growth of foreign trade turnover indicators of Tomsk Oblast and Uzbekistan. The Uzbek side also noted the popularity of Tomsk region in this Central Asian country and a great interest for the development of business relations between businessmen. In total, Tomsk businessmen conducted more than 70 b2b meetings with 40 local enterprises and representatives from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Afghanistan, in CCI, exhibition, and during visits to enterprises.
Eduard Belyaev, the head of Tomsk delegation, adviser to the president of Tomsk CCI, said:
-“The cooperation of Tomsk Oblast and Uzbekistan has great potential. Our region is well known in this country. It is respected for our universities. This country knows the products of our enterprises, is interested in the development of bilateral trade. The liberalization of foreign trade, taking place in Uzbekistan, opens new opportunities for our enterprises. It is important to use them in time”.
Visit to Uzbekistan resulted at signing of agreements between "Oiltim" and "Waterkom" companies with the Uzbek side , as well as promising agreements of almost all the participants of the delegation with Uzbekistan enterprises.
Business missions of Tomsk SMEs were organized by Tomsk CCI with the support of Tomsk Oblast Administration and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia within the framework of Export Support Center. Tomsk companies will be able to participate in business missions to Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Omsk and Sverdlovsk Oblast, as well as to take part in negotiations with Indian and Vietnamese enterprises in Tomsk until the end of the year.
