The region develops international relations
On March 23, Sergey Zhvachkin met with Romanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Vasile Soare. The governor discussed with the head of the Romanian diplomatic representation the prospects for cooperation between the Tomsk region and Romania in science, education, and the cultural sphere. So far, the trade turnover between the Tomsk region and Romania is small. Tomsk citizens exports optical equipment to the republic and provides services in the IT sector. They buy equipment for "food" in Romania, light industry products.
The head of the regional administration suggested the Romanian ambassador intensify cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere. Sergey Zhvachkin told Vasile about the Tomsk universities where students from 67 countries of the world are studying today: "Our universities are training world-class specialists in the oil and gas sector, and Romania is a country that produces hydrocarbons." The sides also discussed cooperation in the cultural sphere. The governor noted that the Romanian cultural center "Casa Mare" ("Big House") has been working in our region since last year: "The Tomsk region is a multiethnic region, we live in peace and harmony and welcome the opening of the Romanian cultural center, which will contribute to our cultural a palette of new colors.”
The head of the region also spoke about the cooperation of the Tomsk region with the representation of the European Union. The EU Ambassador to Russia, Markus Ederer, visited Tomsk in December last year to open the Film Festival of the EU countries. And in May the presentation of our region in Moscow will take place at a meeting of the heads of diplomatic missions of the countries of the European Union, to which the head of the region invited the Romanian ambassador.
On March 26, Sergey Zhvachkin held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, Mohamed Vahid Supadiyadi.
The meeting was held within the framework of a two-day visit of the ambassador to the Tomsk region, during which the head of the diplomatic mission was acquainted with the work of high-tech companies and universities.
Relations between the Tomsk region and Indonesia are developing in the sphere of science, education and new technologies. For example, the Tomsk Special Economic Zone signed a memorandum with the Indonesian SEZ in Batam, and 25 Tomsk innovative enterprises in the field of instrumentation, electronics, chemical production, medicine and IT sector visited Indonesia during business missions.
"The Tomsk region and Indonesia share a great distance, we have absolutely different climatic conditions, but common interests and common ground," the Tomsk governor emphasized. – One of such points is the development of human capital, the scientific and educational complex. If seven years ago there were not a single Indonesian student in Tomsk universities, now there are dozens. As the head of the region noted, now in Tomsk 29 Indonesian students studied, mainly in TSU and TPU. Sergey Zhvachkin also noted the success of the Tomsk scientific and production firm “MIKRAN” on the Indonesian market, which is interested in Tomsk telecommunications equipment. "Tomsk region and Indonesia are oil producing territories. And we have technologies for exploration and extraction of hard-to-recover oil and gas, which we are ready to share with you, "Sergei Zhvachkin suggested.
During the visit, the Indonesian delegation led by the ambassador also visited the Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation included the first secretaries and attachés for economic issues of the Indonesian Embassy in Russia, representatives of the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia of the Russian Federation CCI, representatives of the large oil trading company PT Lumarko Delapan Abadi.
President of the Tomsk CCI Arkady Eskin introduced Indonesian guests to the potential of the Tomsk region, spoke about the activities to develop Russian-Indonesian business cooperation, implemented by the Tomsk CCI Export Support Center in 2012. During this period, the CPE together with the Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia, with the support of the Tomsk Oblast Administration, organized two business missions of small and medium-sized enterprises in Jakarta and Bandung, where more than 100 negotiations were held; as well as visits by Indonesian companies to Tomsk. In many respects thanks to these contacts, Tomsk telecommunication, laboratory, industrial equipment is delivered to Indonesia, and Indonesian students are trained in Tomsk universities.
As Mr. Mohamad Vahid Supriyadi explained, "we are pleased with the results of cooperation of the Tomsk region and Indonesia, presented by CCI President Arkady Eskin: Tomsk products in Indonesia, Indonesian cocoa powder and palm oil in Tomsk, 30 Indonesian students in your universities.
