In traditions of old friendship
The regional export support center develops business contacts between Indian and Tomsk businessmen.
In the current year 2017, Russia and India celebrate 70 years of establishing diplomatic relations between our countries. Today, these long-standing partnerships are consolidated by the business community of the two countries.
For Tomsk businessmen, the road to India was laid several years ago, when the Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a business mission of small and medium-sized enterprises to the largest business center of India - Mumbai, - says director of the Center for the Development of Foreign Trade Activity of the CCI, Alexander Belyaev. - Since then, mutual interest between our and Indian business has only increased, five more visits of representatives of Tomsk small and medium enterprises to the states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, New Delhi were held. This year was not an exception - CCI experts organized the participation of our companies in the international exhibition of services GES-2017 in Uttar Pradesh.
In addition, in the jubilee year for Russian-Indian relations, a delegation of businessmen from India again visited our city. The visit took place from 27 to 29 September, and among the guests there were representatives of companies from the IT sector, organizations providing design and construction services to industrial facilities, including oil and gas and electricity, as well as companies interested in purchasing Tomsk products and developing commercial cooperation.
Guests, according to the established tradition were acquainted with the potential of our region, the capabilities of enterprises and the infrastructure of business support. Indian businessmen visited Tomskcable LLC, EleSi CJSC, resident enterprises of the Tomsk SEZ, Universal Terminal Systems LLC, Akvelit LLC, and Tomsk Polytechnic University. All that was seen did not leave indifferent businessmen from the southern country, and on September 28 the Tomsk company Akvelit LLC concluded an agreement with the Indian medical company Optimend and Distribution Networks Pvt LTD.
"We agreed to establish a joint venture in the production of medical wound healing materials using our technologies," Natalia Kirilova, the head of Akvelit LLC, said after signing the document. - By the way, before the conclusion of the contract, we had never met personally with representatives of the Indian side, the first contact and mutual interest were established thanks to the preparatory work of the specialists of the Tomsk Export Support Center. We hope that the cooperation will be strong and contribute to the promotion of our products in the new market for us.
Other representatives of the Tomsk business also had a good opportunity to establish business ties with Indian entrepreneurs thanks to the exchange of contacts held by the Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
"We see great potential for continuing cooperation with your region, there are many interesting developments and technologies that can be used in the industry, there are a lot of promising projects to think about," says a representative of the Indian company Inderprastha Packaging Private Limited, a wide range of packaging materials. "Indian entrepreneurs see the persistence with which your business support institutions are trying to promote companies to our market, and it's impressive. Such support indicates that you intend to develop exports not "for a tick", and this sets us on business.
In the opinion of the Tomsk businessmen, Indian Market is very specific and for is a true terra incognita.
"We know that this country is very rich and extremely densely populated, but very few people know how to conduct business there, in this regard, the support of experts from the Chamber of Commerce and the Export Support Center plays a key role. The more representatives of Indian business from different spheres of economy and industry appear here, the more likely that this country will become closer to us" – says Alexei Kuimov.
The meeting of the Indian delegation was held within the framework of measures to develop export-oriented business, with the support of the administration of the Tomsk region and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. But this is not the last contact of representatives of Tomsk and Indian business this year.
“The visit of representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry, uniting more than five thousand large industrial companies, is expected this autumn-winter in Tomsk”, - says Alexander Belyaev. – We hope that this meeting will attract the attention of the Tomsk business community and will be translated into concrete agreements.
